Hi surgaev,

Very good question! Sorry for the confusion, but there are different usages of the character 㗎 when they're pronounced in different tones:

gaa2 - with doubt and reservation

gaa3 - with strong emphasis

gaa4 - with disapproval and retort

In the case of our dialogue, it should be the one in 3rd tone, which emphasize the answer (location of where she learned Cantonese).

Keep up the good work!

hello! why in sentence - ngo5 hai2 mong5 soeng5 hok6 gaa2

in the end we use gaa - particle that indicates question or doubt

because we haven't question or doubt here

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your comment!

In this situation, either 㗎 or 嘅 can be used as the ending particle:

我喺學校學㗎 and 我喺學校學嘅 are both correct.

㗎 in this case is telling people a fact; while 嘅 has a usage similar to "the fact is..."

We seldom use 嘅+呀, so you may say that 㗎 is a good substitution.

In some old publications, we saw 噶, but it's not used much nowadays. It doesn't really represent any sound that is the same as the common ending particles we use now.
