| In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to use when talking with friends. After watching this video, you’ll be able to have a casual conversation with a friend, and to say something is “super.” |
| Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| 喂，睇下嗰架車！ (wai3, tai2 haa5 go2 gaa3 ce1!) |
| 嘩，超型！ (waa1, ciu1 jing4!) |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| 喂，睇下嗰架車！ (wai3, tai2 haa5 go2 gaa3 ce1!) |
| “Hey, look at that car!” |
| 嘩，超型！ (waa1, ciu1 jing4!) |
| “Wow, that's super cool!” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “Hey, look at that car!” |
| That's: |
| 喂，睇下嗰架車！ (wai3, tai2 haa5 go2 gaa3 ce1!) |
| Listen to it again: |

| Now, how do you respond to this? |
| First of all, you’ll need to learn how to say “wow” . That’s |
| 嘩, 嘩 (waa1, waa1) |
| Then, you’ll need to learn how to say “That’s super [adjective].” |
| The pattern is: |
| 超 [adjective]。 (ciu1 [adjective].) |
| This Cantonese sentence literally translates as "Super [adjective].” But it means “That's super [adjective].” |
| For example: |
| “Wow, that's super cool!” |
| 嘩，超型！, 嘩，超型！ (waa1, ciu1 jing4!, waa1, ciu1 jing4!) |
