Hi lo taai,

Thank you so much for your advice. I agree that adding more literal translation corresponds with the word order of Cantonese would be helpful. The Lesson notes PDF Vocabulary section has some literal translation. We have the HONZI CLOSE-UP in some other lessons which is quite close to your suggestion.

I am aware that your course is designed for colloquial Cantonese but with directions it can often be quite confusing . For me personally I think the addition of a literal translation as well as colloquial would be most helpful .For example

from here walk straight, to the second traffic light ( and ) turn right .

ni1dou6 zik6 haang4 dou3 dai6 ji6 go3 hung4 luk6 dung1 zyun3 jau6 This seems to correspond better with the word order in Cantonese which makes it easier for the student to grasp. lo taai

Hi Llew,

Thank you for your question.

You are right!

Similar to English, people sometimes raise the tone at the end of the sentence when asking question.

What are the rules for tone change as the zaam6 at the end of the third line sounds like zaam2? is this just because it was a question or is it still in the 6th tone?

Regards Lew
