Hello Layla,

Thanks for your comment and question. ๐Ÿ˜‰

ๅ•ฒ (di1) also means "some", which fits in this sentence.

Hello,

What does the โ€˜ๅ•ฒโ€™ mean in โ€˜ๆˆ‘ๅŒๅ•ฒ็ดฐ่ทฏๅ—Œไบคโ€™? I learnt that it meant โ€˜-erโ€™, for example, in โ€˜slowerโ€™, but it doesnโ€™t seem to fit the sentence that way.

I really am enjoying CantoneseClass101. Thank you for all the hard work put into these awesome classes!

Hello Takao,

1. You are right! The usage of {้–‹(hoi1~turn on} and {็†„(sik1)~turn off} can be applied on the switch, light, computer,

cellphone, as well. For example, ้–‹็‡ˆ(hoi1 dang1) ~ turn on the light, ็†„็‡ˆ(sik1 dang1) ~ turn off the light.

2. ้™ค่กซ๏ผˆceoi4 saam1๏ผ‰~ take off the clothes.

3. ้–‹้–€(hoi1 mun4) means "unlock the door" or "open the door". Or you can say ้–‹้Ž–(hoi1 so2)~unlock. ้Ž–(so2) can be a

noun too.

4. ้–‹้–€(hoi1 mun4) ~ open the door.

้–‚้–€(saan1 mun4) ~ close the door.
