Cantonese Survival phrases, lesson 46. How Do You Eat This? In Hong Kong, there are many delicious dishes. We’ve already covered how to order them but we haven’t covered how to eat them. In today’s lesson, we are going to teach you a very useful phrase. How do you eat this? In Cantonese, how do you eat this is 呢個點食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6) Let’s break it down by syllable. 呢 個 點 食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6) Once again 呢個點食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6) , the first word 呢個(ni1 go3) means this one, 呢個(ni1 go3) this one. And next we have 點(dim2) which means how 點(dim2) how. And finally we have 食(sik6) which means to eat 食(sik6) to eat. To recap here, we have 呢個點食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6), 呢個點食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6). Literally this translates as, this one how to eat. 呢個點食?(ni1 go3 dim2 sik6) Now let’s practice 點(dim2) with another common verb 用(jung6) or to use 用(jung6) to use. Let me ask you.
