Mmm, food! Even if you don't cook, listeners, you must have a favourite Chinese dish.

Tell us about it (and how to make it, if you know how!) in Cantonese!

Hello penny lawton,

ๆˆ‘ๅ“‹่ฆๅฐ‡ๅ€‹PIZZAๅˆ‡้–‹ไธ€ๅกŠๅกŠ.(ngo5 dei6 jiu3 zoeng1 go3 PIZZA cit3 hoi1 jat1 faai3 faai3.)

We will have to cut the pizza into pieces.

You are right again! ?

When we are going to do something, we can use the word ๅฐ‡(zoeng1). It could mean "take, is going to or apply to"

ๅฐ‡ (zoeng1)~ is going to , to apply to. You can use it in both written form and daily conversation.

ๅปšๅธซๅฐ‡้šป้›žๆ–ฌไปถใ€‚(cyu4 si1 zoeng1 zek3 gai1 zaam2 gin2.)~The chef chops the chicken into pieces.

ไปถ(gin2)~ piece, item

ๆˆ‘ๅฐ‡ๅ€‹ๆ‰‹่ข‹่ณฃๅ’—ใ€‚(ngo5 zoeng1 go3 sau2 doi2 maai6 zo2.)~I sold my handbag.

ๅ’—(zo2)~ past tense

m4 goi1 ngo5 soeng2 man6 nei5 lai6 geoi3 ge3 man4 faat3

I would like to ask you a grammar question in thesample sentence

nei5 dei6 jiu3 zoeng1 go3 pizza cit3 hoi1 jat1 faai3 faai3

literallyโ€”- we must take the pizza and cut it into pieces

does this mean when we are going to do something to something we need to use the word zoeng1 meaning take ? i.e. zoeng1 is it coloquial spoken Cantonese and when should I use it ?
