Hi guys! Welcome to Cantonese Weekly Words! This week we are going to talk about In the Wallet!
銀包 (ngan4 baau1) is “wallet”
現金 (jin6 gam1)
現金 (jin6 gam1) “cash”
In a sentence: 我冇現金,要去㩒錢。(ngo5 mou5 jin6 gam1, jiu3 heoi3 gam6 cin2.) “I don't have cash, I need to withdraw some money.”
信用卡 (seon3 jung6 kaat1)
信用卡 (seon3 jung6 kaat1) is “credit card”
你用信用卡定用現金?(nei5 jung6 seon3 jung6 kaat1 ding6 jung6 jin6 gam1?) “Are you using credit card or cash?”
駕駛執照 (gaa3 sai2 zap1 ziu3)
駕駛執照 (gaa3 sai2 zap1 ziu3) is “driver's licence”
我唔鍾意我駕駛執照嗰張相。(ngo5 m4 zung1 ji3 ngo5 gaa3 sai2 zap1 ziu3 go2 zoeng1 soeng2.) “I don't like the photo on my driver's licence.”
提款卡 (tai4 fun2 kaat1)
提款卡 (tai4 fun2 kaat1) is “debit card”. It’s the debit card that you can withdraw money or pay with.
我唔見咗張提款卡,攞唔到錢呀!(ngo5 m4 gin3 zo2 zoeng1 tai4 fun2 kaat1, lo2 m4 dou2 cin2 aa3!) “I lost my debit card, I can't withdraw any money!” I hope that doesn't happen to you.
圖書證 (tou4 syu1 zing3) “library card”, or 圖書卡 (tou4 syu1 kaat1) “library card”
Nowadays in Hong Kong, we can use the Hong Kong ID card as library card, so we just need one card.
每張圖書卡可以借幾多本書? (mui5 zoeng1 tou4 syu1 kaat1 ho2 ji3 ze3 gei2 do1 bun2 syu1?) “How many books can we borrow with each library card?”
I don’t know the answer, that’s why I’m asking! I will look it up.
