Hello Lo taai,

Thank you so much for your question and encouragement. Great to see you enjoy the learning.

Actually Cantonese is a very fascinating language. The variety of the tones provides more specific meaning of different vocabulary. With the beauty of the traditional Chinese character, it contains lots of different meanings and connotations. Maybe you will find it interesting if you check out the link about the Chinese character below.

Hi lo taai,

We usually call "seaside" as ๆตท้‚Š (hoi2 bin1), ๆตทๆฟฑ(hoi2 ban1), ๆตท็šฎ(hoi2 pei4) or ๆตทๅ‚(hoi2 pong4).

ๆตท(hoi2) ~ sea, ocean

้‚Š(bin1) ~ edge, side

ๆตท(hoi2) ~ sea, ocean

ๆฟฑ(ban1) ~ shore, border

ๆตท(hoi2) ~ sea, ocean

็šฎ( pei4) ~ skin

ๆตท(hoi2) ~ sea, ocean

ๅ‚(pong4)~ adjacent, next to some place

ๆตทๆฟฑ้…’ๅบ—(hoi2 ban1 zau2 dim3) is "Seaside Hotel". Although ้‚Š(bin1),็šฎ( pei4), ๅ‚(pong4) and ๆฟฑ(ban1) carry the similar meaning, somehow ๆฟฑ(ban1) sounds more classic and elegant in Chinese character. It is common to say ๆตทๆฟฑ้…’ๅบ—(hoi2 ban1 zau2 dim3).
