Chart: Radicals + Pronunciations

Postby ever.arevalo.70_16919 » June 26th, 2014 2:49 pm

Dear CC101:
So far I've only been able to find Mandarin versions of radical charts.
A Cantonese version would be great!

Thank you
Best Wishes

Hi ever.arevalo.70,
By Mandarin version, do you mean the Simplified Chinese writing system?
For Cantonese we use the same radical chart, just in Traditional Chinese writing system. Like this one: http://www.chinalanguage.com/dictionari ... chart1.gif

Dear Ms. Olivia,
That is the one, but I can't find any complete radical charts that include the JyutPing. I've found a chart that has, I believe half of the radicals with JyutPing. Otherwise i'm stuck having to figure out which of the many pronunciations that MDBG.NET provides for each, is correct.

I know I may seem bothersome, but you really have been giving me answers that noone is willing to give me.
I presented these questions to my old Mandarin professor from city college, and he never returned any of my calls.

i can't thank you enough.
Take care.

Glad to hear that we can help!

I found this girl's blog in which she typed out the radical chart with pronunciation and jyutping, and more importantly, the term we use to refer to the common radicals. For example, when referring to the radical 扌, we don't say 手 (sau2), we say 剔手邊 (tik1 sau2 bin1). You can find them below the radical chart.

And if you want a simple one in pdf format, this one is pretty good too: http://www.iso10646hk.net/download/jp/doc/JPTableP5.pdf

This list is pretty good too:

http://www.cantonese.sheik.co.uk/dictionary/radicals/

This list is incomplete right now but you can click on the radicals and see what characters they are contained in. Pretty cool
